Call for Boycott of the American Administration and Its Affiliated Institutions

Once again, the United States of America exercised its veto power against the Algerian resolution calling for a cessation of the war in Gaza presented before the United Nations Security Council during its session held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. This action adds to a long list of United States' thwarted UN resolutions, shielding Israel and its crimes from any form of accountability, and against the rights of Palestinians violated by Israel over decades of conflict.

Over the past decades of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the United States of America has wielded its veto power in the United Nations Security Council 47 times against resolutions condemning Israel, and voted 34 times against resolutions supporting Palestinian rights. Three of these vetoes have occurred during the ongoing crisis in Gaza, first on October 18, 2023, when it vetoed a resolution calling for a humanitarian ceasefire to allow aid into Gaza, and again on December 8, 2023, against a resolution demanding a humanitarian cessation of hostilities in Gaza. Similarly, it showed no hesitation today in using it for the third time against the Algerian resolution presented before the United Nations Security Council during its session, underscoring the United States' determination to continue giving Israel the green light to continue killing more Palestinian civilians.

Given the absolute financial, military, and political American support for Israel's war against Palestinians since October 2023 until today, coupled with a long accumulation of the American administration's disgraceful, complicit positions with the appalling violations and crimes committed by Israel against Palestinian civilians, revealing the double standards in the US administration's handling of human rights issues, including the repeated use of veto power against any resolution to stop the war and atrocities against Palestinian civilians, Mwatana for Human Rights urges all independent human rights organizations, civil and humanitarian institutions, activists, and advocates worldwide to disengage from any interaction with American governmental entities. The reputation of such entities has been tarnished, and their credibility and integrity compromised.

The boycott of American governmental entities by independent human rights organizations, civil and humanitarian institutions, and all activists and advocates believing in the universality of human rights, justice, and peace, worldwide, will present an effective and rejecting message against American negative roles, for its involvement in the appalling Israeli crimes against Palestinian civilians, genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, including the crime of using starvation as a weapon of war against hundreds of thousands of Palestinian civilians.

Mwatana for Human Rights, directing this call for the initiative to boycott all American governmental institutions as an official system, also affirm their high appreciation for all individuals working diligently and committedly for human rights, justice, and peace without discrimination or bias.
