"Razed to the Ground" is a new documentary produced by Mwatana for Human Rights on violations committed by the warring parties against cultural property in Yemen during the ongoing armed conflict. The documentary covers six historic sites: the Old City of Sana’a, Al-Ashrafiya Mosque and Madrassa in Taiz, the City of Baraqish in Al-Jawf, the Old Ma’rib Dam, the City of Shibam in Hadhramaut, and the Touristic Pier in Aden. These six sites are among the 34 sites that were exposed to different types of attacks and Mwatana documented in its report "The Degradation of History: Violations Committed by the Warring Parties against Yemen’s Cultural Property" (released in November 2018). This report documents various types of violations and complex patterns of abuse that have affected many cultural objects in Yemen since the second half of 2014 and for three years.

The documentary “Violated Lives” highlights the #US forces military raid in Al Athal village of Al Jubah district, Marib governorate in #Yemen on May 23, 2017. Five people were killed in the raid, including two civilians, two members of the US-aligned Yemeni army, and another man whose status Mwatana was unable to determine. The two civilians who were killed included an elderly shepherd and a 19-year old student. Another four people were injured, including two civilians and two Yemeni army soldiers.

Parties to the conflict in Yemen continue to arbitrarily detain, forcibly disappear, torture, and subject people to cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment which sometimes ends with death in detention centers. Conditions of detention across Yemen are appalling. Such violations and crimes inflict indelible scars on individuals, families, and Yemeni’s memory.
Due to the conflicting parties in #Yemen , civilians' lives, hopes and limbs are being amputated. Mwatana reiterates its call that All persons with disabilities must enjoy their rights without any discrimination
