The documentary presents an aspect of the humanitarian stories that show that impact of the conflict on civilians and the deteriorated situation and life conditions of the Taiz due to the ground conflict.

Mwatana Organization for Human Rights released the human rights documentary “we want to live" which highlights the misery of civilians stranded between fires of parties to the ground conflict in Taiz province southern Yemen since the outset of war late March 2015.The film presents an aspect of the humanitarian stories that show that impact of the ongoing conflict civilians since almost two years between the first conflict side, which includes militants of the armed group Ansar Allah (Houthis), who are fighting alongside the forces of their ally former president Ali Abdullah Saleh, and the second conflict side; groups of the “popular resistance”, who are fighting alongside army forces loyal to Yemeni president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.The film narrates details of two bloody attacks on two civilian populated neighborhoods resulting in killing and maiming of several civilians while they were practicing their daily life activities in houses, streets, neighborhoods and public markets. In addition, the film documents images of how the lives of civilians got worst and worst living conditions exacerbated under the war, and the siege imposed on the city by Houthi armed group and forces loyal to Yemen’s former president Ali Abdullah Saleh.In the morning December 1, 2015, an attack of shells by forces of Houthi-Saleh alliance led to the killing of 3 children and injury of 10 other civilians including 5 children while they were fetching waters from a charity tank in Al-Kwait neighborhood in Salah district of Taiz.A shell by popular resistance fighters and forces loyal to president Abdu Rabu Mansoor Hadi, in August 5, 2015 on Al-Sameil market, Houdh al-Ashraf area in Salah district of Taiz, resulted in injury of 16 civilians including 12 children and a woman.In its report “Chapters from Hell, “Mwatana sheds light on (32) random attacks and (22) incidents of firing live ammunition of bullets and anti-crafts. In these attacks and incidents, at least (103) civilians were killed including (50) children and (14) women. Furthermore, (229) civilians were injured including (98) children and (16) women in the period between April 2015 and March 2016.Beside calling all parties to the conflict to neutralize civilians, Mwatana reiterates its call to establishing an international independent mechanism to investigate all conflict sides’ violations in Yemen.
